Gwyneth Leech is a New York City–based artist known for her vivid paintings of building construction across Midtown Manhattan. Her fascination began in 2015 when she documented a forty-story tower rising outside her Garment District studio window, inspiring her to capture the city’s evolving skyline. Since then, she has painted major projects including Hudson Yards, One Vanderbilt, and now, 270 Park Avenue.
Leech began to draw the structural steel fan columns and V columns at 270 Park Avenue as they were being installed in the Spring of 2021. She was awed by the scale of the project and by the dynamic and unusual geometric shapes taking shape across a whole city block. She has returned over the intervening years to make paintings and drawings as the tower rose to take its place in the iconic Park Avenue cityscape
