Yards at the Yard
New York City based artist, Gwyneth Leech is known for her paintings of building construction across Manhattan, and has been engaged in a multi-year project to document the evolution of the Midtown cityscape as new skyscrapers inexorably rise, from Hudson Yards and Billionaire’s row, to One Vanderbilt and 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East. Yards at the Yard, a solo exhibition of Leech's artworks on paper curated by Deborah Oster Pannell, opened on December 15th and runs until February 27, 2023 at the Yard: Lincoln Square. This exhibition features watercolors, India ink drawings and mixed media paintings made from 2016-2022 of the rising towers of Hudson Yards as well as the building going up outside the artist’s window, including drawings of the workers as they looked back at the artist so close at hand.
Yards at the Yard is on view until February 27th 2023 at the Yard: Lincoln Square, a co-working space located at 157 Columbus Ave, New York, NY 10023, 4th floor. Public Access Monday – Friday 10am – 4:30pm.
